    Basics

    Hotkeys

    • Alt + i w = New sheet
    • Unsort = Alt + DFS
    • Ctrl + page up / down = move between sheets
    • To maneuver: Alt + LETTER, then start moving the arrow key until you want to activate by pressing SPACE
    • ALT + f t = Options
    • Alt & + = automatically sum funciton
    • F9 Calculates all worksheets in all open workbooks. Shift+F9 calculates the active worksheet. Ctrl+Alt+F9 calculates all worksheets in all open workbooks, regardless of whether they have changed since the last calculation.
    • Alt h o I = autofit the column width
    • Ctrl + space bar = select column
    • Shift + space bar = select row
    • Shift + arrow keys allow you to maintain and expand your selection
    • Alt + v z = zoom size
    • Alt o c a = autofit column width.
    • Alt o c w =assign the column width
    • Alt h o h = assign the row height
    • Ctrl o = new file
    • Ctrl f = find & replace text
    • Ctrl + n = new workbook
    • Ctrl + shift + → = highlight until empty cell
    • Alt + e, s = paste special (can paste just formatting like you would use for the format painter)
    • Ctrl + tab = cycle between workbooks
    • Ctrl Shift 1 is the shortcut to cycle through different number formats.
    • Ctrl Shift 2 is the shortcut to cycle through different date formats.

    Formulas

    • Once you create a formula in one cell, then you can press CTRL + C, V to copy and paste it across and Excel will automatically update for you

    Formatting

    • Ctrl +1 = Formatting
    • Once inside the formatting box, you can use the arrow keys to navigate and press “Tab” to enter a tab. If you want to move outside of where you clicked-in, then press shift + tab
    • The space bar activates a click funciton

    Referencing Cells from other worksheets

    • How to add a cell reference from a different worksheet into an existing formula with keyboard :
      1. Hit F2 to get into the existing formula; delete any incorrect formulas or operators
      2. Hit F2 again to enable “Enter” mode on the bottom-left corner of the Excel sheet
      3. Holding down Ctrl, use PageUp or PageDown to find the desired worksheet
      4. Let go of the Ctrl and PageUp/Down keys
      5. Use the arrow keys to locate the desired cell reference
      6. Hit Enter

    Protection

    • Go into “FILE” and “INFO” and you can protect the workbook
